She is a student at Dalhousie University completing her degree in Medical Sciences with a certificate in Medical Humanities. Dr Fraser (she/her) founded Coastal Gender Affirming Care in February of 2024. She is a queer family physician with a passion for providing patient-centred care. In addition to practicing medicine, she enjoys writing, crossfit and learning new languages.

Alina (she/her, they/them) joined Coastal Gender Affirming Care as an administrative assistant in July 2024. With a bachelor's degree in humanities, she combines a strong passion for community engagement with a keen interest in data and information management. Dedicated to improving accessibility, Alina also volunteers in the cultural sector in her spare time.

Marianna (she/her) is a licensed practical nurse from Ukraine with extensive experience in sexual health education and working with international communities. She is passionate about serving others and enjoys learning about diverse cultures. In her free time, Marianna loves dancing and snowboarding.

Hailey Thomas (she/her) is a Queer African Nova Scotian woman with roots in East Preston. She has been working in the field of diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility for over 10 years. In addition to supporting various gender-based violence and anti-human trafficking initiatives, she is passionate about supporting 2SLGBTQIA+  youth, creating accommodating, accessible and equitable spaces for all.

Physician

Dr. Alex Sylvester (they/them) is a family physician with specialized training in gender-affirming care and sexual health. Passionate about supporting trans and gender-diverse folks, they provide dynamic and evidence-based care.

Dr. Sylvester is deeply grateful to both be a part of, and serve the Nova Scotian trans community.

Licensed Practical Nurse

Betsy (she/her, they/them) is a Licensed Practical Nurse and was valedictorian of her graduating class. As a member of the queer community, physical, mental and social health for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community has been a dedicated aspect of their identity, values and life experience. As a parent, it’s important to Betsy to contribute to building a healthcare system that is safe for future generations. In her spare time, Betsy enjoys recreational roller derby and doing embroidery.
